I’ve been watching you site for at least a year waiting for the right ’74 to show up. I’d been looking mainly for an Omega/Longines dress watch but I’m a big fan of vintage Seiko as well. When I saw this watch pop up on your site–with its unusual movement and in absolutely mint condition–I knew this was the one. Sure, EL-370s can be had on eBay for less, but you found a gem that was worth every penny! And after 43-years of being who knows where, barely being worn, and therefore probably never being serviced, I’m happy to see that it’s running strongly and fairly accurate.

Want the Rolex look but without any stigma associated with wearing a Rolex? Tudor is the answer, and of course they are also cheaper to buy and to maintain. This one from 1962 uses the Rolex Oyster case and their twinlock crown, but is vastly cheaper than the equivalent Rollie would be. ![]()

Less is more, and when it comes to Ultrathin watches (5mm and under thickness) they often need to be simple designs in order to work correctly and be legible. Well played Omega - all boxes ticked here and a patterned dial with gold dust highlights to add to it.![]()

The strap is about as import as the watch in this case on this Tissot Sideral from 1969. These straps just don't normally survive, and if you are a collector that prizes originality then finding this together still and is good, wearable condition is a true bonus. The clever strap design needs no keeper - the tail of the strap clips in to make it sit flush.![]()

By 1982, the Twin Quartz technology had been passed down from the Superior and Grand Quartz ranges and was featured in the King Quartz. This made them more affordable, and these highly accurate movements sold in good numbers. Even today, 43 years after the watch was made, this one is still running at just +0.01 seconds a day (or round it up to +4 seconds per year!)![]()
