A rare to see GP90 automatic in steel and gold, with the full Girard-Perregaux box and papers. Model reference 1100.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork, which matches the model number of the watch, we can show that this watch was sold new in October 2002. There is also a receipt from Austin Kaye of the Strand, who resold it in 2006 for £1,295.
CONDITION
Girard-Perregaux watches are a bit of a connoisseurs choice. The cheapest new watch they sell, in steel only, is £7,700 at the moment but the prices can climb rapidly from that. We have a price for a similar watch to this GP90 in 1999 of $2,500, without the gold bezel, and a similar Longines was $1,095. But exclusivity has always come with a price tag, and you will find ten Longines for every Girard-Perregaux. The case is steel and gold, clearly stated on the case back so the bezel will be solid gold and not just plated. The case is unpolished so will show some marks of use. Inside that case is calibre 220-116, a 21 jewel beautifully finish slim automatic movement with quick set date and hacking. The dial, with gold hands and markers, has a fine Clous de Paris pattern to it and is very well executed. The dark blue leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred, and we have transferred the original signed GP steel buckle to the new strap. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and buckle.
This watch will be supplied with the original inner and outer presentation boxes, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity. The main box is in poor condition, with the hinges broken and the material peeling.
