The combination of a Very High Precision movement (VHP) and a case and bracelet made from lightweight titanium made the Conquest a huge success. Model reference 4981 6.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The VHP Conquest was launched in 1984, with a movement that used a special lithium battery. One year later that was swapped for a 174.2 calibre quartz, and that was again upgraded a couple of years later to the movement that features in this watch. The later watches use a standard, easy to find battery.
CONDITION
These VHP watches sold in very good numbers, but finding good ones now isn’t as easy as you might expect. This example isn’t perfect either – the last three links on the bracelet are made of steel rather than titanium. Other than that, it is in nice shape. The video shows the EOL (end of life) indicator making the seconds hand jump in five second increments, but we will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. You can also set the hour hand independently for quick adjustment, potentially whilst crossing time zones. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and clasp.
