HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1978. This model was also available in a solid gold case, and that can be seen on Omega’s own website here.
CONDITION
While the solid gold case version would be nice, it might also add such a significant price tot he watch that this gold plated version makes more sense for most people. The case has 20 micron plating, and while there are some wear points in general it looks good. The dial is original and has a few marks too, again mainly visible on the enlarged photos more than This watch features Omega’s in house quartz calibre, number 1330. This three jewel movement has the same copper coloured metal base plate finish as the mechanical watches, as this was before quartz watches became known for being cheap and standards were still quite high in Switzerland. The hour hand can be set independently to the minute hand, and the minute hand is set by pushing in the button set into the crown. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner – the original 388 batteries are no longer made, but we have installed the correct reusable spacer to allow modern 329 batteries to be used. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and buckle, but the buckle may be an aftermarket replacement.
