HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in July 1982.
CONDITION
The most expensive and accurate watches Seiko made in 1982 were the Superior, Grand Quartz and King Quartz respectively with the twin quartz crystal movements. Essentially the movements are all related, just tuned to see how accurate Seiko could make them (each were measured in seconds per year, so that’s pretty accurate!). Our watch would have cost ¥60,000, when you could buy a mechanical men’s Seiko for a fifth of that in the same catalogue. Everything on the 8 jewel movement, including the quick set day and date, is working correctly and we will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. We have spent some time fine tuning the movement, and it is now running at one hundredth of a second per day fast! The case has a few small marks, but overall presents well. The bracelet is full length and can be adjusted by sliding the clasp and locking it down. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and clasp.
