This Record gold watch has an in house movement and was awarded at the end of 1957.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the engraving on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being presented on New Year’s Eve, 1957.  The London hallmark inside the case back is for 1956/7 too.

CONDITION

We don’t know why the watch was presented by the Leicester & District Master Plumbers Association, but presumably it was at an end of year awards ceremony.  Record were at their peak in this period, having been one of the twelve companies chosen to make watches for the British Military at the end of WW2 alongside the like of Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC and Longines.  This watch has their own in house movement, a manual wind calibre 022-18 with fifteen jewels.  The gold case size is typical of the time, but the 18mm lugs are wider than average.  The leather strap is new, and the fixed bars are strong and straight.  The dial has a few spots, which really is the only issue with the watch as it runs very nicely.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
