Genta designed yet another classic watch when he sketched the Bulgari Bvlgari, and in automatic chronograph specification it is a very desirable watch. Model reference BB 42 SL CH.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Whilst we don’t have the papers for this particular watch, the ones currently for sale with papers tend to be sold between 2010 and 2012.
CONDITION
The Bulgari Bulgari was designed by Gerald Genta, and it is remarkable how many watches he designed that define a brand – where would Audemars Piguet be without his Royal Oak now? Then around the year 2000, Bulgari got very serious about watchmaking and bought both Daniel Roth and the Gerald Genta brand – Bulgari’s later Octo design is a direct reflection on the 1990’s Gerald Genta line up, and the Bulgari Octo Finissimo remains one of the most impressive watches we have ever offered. The dial on this watch is clean and quite intricate, but the case and clasp haven’t been polished so show surface scratches. There is also a bruise on the edge of the bezel at 2, and another at 9.30. The automatic movement is heavily base don an ETA 2894-A2, meaning servicing and future parts should be easy enough – these were the premium ETA chronograph movements so are found in watches from IWC, Omega, Longines, Breitling, TAG Heuer and a lot more. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. The watch is signed on the clasp, case, dial movement and bezel.
