HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This isn’t as straightforward to date as some watches are. But the movement used in this watch was launched in 1982, and this one is co signed ESA and ETA. By 1985 ESA name had completely disappeared, so we think this is closer to 1982 than 1985.
CONDITION
If we had to draw a watch from the early eighties it would be thing, not round, quartz powered and likely bi metal case. This Technos ticks all those boxes. The bracelet isn’t signed but if it isn’t original it is a remarkable match, so we have saved it even though there is significant wear to the gold plating. The plating on the bezel has stood up to the years of wear far better. The black dial is good, with the gilt hour markers clear to read. The hands also are legible in most lights, thanks to a line of black paint down their centres. The movement is the same as you will find in many brands of this time, the ESA/ETA 955.412 7 jewel quartz with quick set date. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is full length and is adjusted via a sliding clasp, without the need for special tools. The watch is signed on the dial and case.
