This ladies Universal Geneve watch looks to be a version of the men’s White Shadow line, and is unusual in being automatic. Model ref’ 828604.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The serial number on the case back is later than the database we use allows for, so we know it is later than 1968. Roughly adding on consecutive production numbers takes us to circa 1972, but this is not an exact science.
CONDITION
The smooth case with thick, seamless lug case is often called the C case after the Gerald Genta designed Omega Constellation. He also designed the similar White and Gilt Shadow line for Universal Geneve, and this certainly fits in the family looks. The seventeen jewel movement looks to by made by FEF for Universal Geneve, and is a conventional (if small) full rotor automatic rather than the micro rotor movements used in the men’s watches. The dial is clean, and the black hands are easy to read against the silver dial. The bracelet is not stamped Universal Geneve anywhere and is actually made by a company called Bambi. It is not the same quality as the stainless steel watch case, and could be swapped for a leather strap is preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement rotor and crown.
