A later Swiss made Waltham watch, with a great linen dial and some nice design touches that make is stand out.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Waltham were founded in 1849, but in 1968 the company was sold to a Swiss group, and this is a Swiss made watch.  More tellingly is that the movement used in this watch was first in production in 1970.  This watch may be a little newer, but can not be older than 1970.

CONDITION

All the photos were taken before we noticed a clear crystal protector on the glass – this was removed before the video, so please ignore any lines around the outer edge of the glass.  After that, the first thing you see is the linen effect dial, which is clean and very attractive.  Then you see the stainless steel case has milled bezel, which is very subtle but a nice detail.  Inside the case you find the AS 1914 movement, a seventeen jewel calibre signed for Waltham.  It has the day wheel in English, and the date can be quick set by pushing the crown inwards.  Both day and date are in red, which is unconventional but works.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred.  The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.

This watch will be supplied with our branded and reusable zipped travel case and cleaning cloth, and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
