HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1987. From the supplied paperwork, which doesn’t list the serial number of the watch, we can show that this watch was sold in 1988 either year could be considered valid for a birth year watch.
CONDITION
A quick look through the 1987 Argos catalogue and you will see the watches available are often square, gold plated, quartz powered and often having LCD sections. But this watch is none of those things, so would have been out of fashion back in 1988. But as fashions change , so does demand, and this is exactly the sort of watch we are often asked for but can not find examples from the period! Well, this is a good one. The 21 jewel movement is automatic wind only, with quick set day and date, this is on the original bracelet and the box and papers are a bonus. The watch has been worn, and you can see some marks to prove that, but must have been put away safely after each time. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown, crystal, clasp, buckle and strap.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity. The cushion or clip the watch would have sat on originally has been lost.
