HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in June 1983.
CONDITION
The problem with physical vapor deposition (PVD coating) on a watch is that it can become worn, just like gold plating. This watch, according to the owner we bought it from, was worn twice and then sat in a drawer. Given the condition we have absolutely no reason to doubt that. It is museum quality perfect, and the only things it is missing is box, papers and some links that have been removed on the bracelet. The bracelet is still a decent length though. You will not find a better one, and this one even has the protective fil on the case back still. That case back does have some tool slip marks from where someone has changed the battery in the past, but they are not visible when wearing the watch of course. The movement is working perfectly, and the quick set day and date are operated via the screw down crown (these SQ100 were so called because they were Seiko Quartz, water resistant to 100m). The day wheel is in English and French. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
