The Seiko Skyliner was a well made watch, and is now sought after due to the simplicity and quality of the movement.  Model reference 6220-9000.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in September 1966, and there is also an engraving on the case back for 1966 too.

CONDITION

For a similar price in 1966, you could have had a watch that had more features.  A Seiko 5 for example cost just a few hundred Yen more, but it was automatic, and had day and date calendar.  But the Skyliner was a dress watch, especially in this gold plated over steel case design.  The manual wind calibre 6220C movement has 21 jewels and is triple shock protected rather than just the balance wheel, which is a significant upgrade.  The dial is original and pretty clean, barring some very minor marks, and the wide hands suit it well.  The gold plating has worn on the tips of the lugs and on the crown, but it otherwise looking good.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred.  The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
