An Omega gold watch from 1966, but without a submodel name like De Ville or Seamaster. Model reference 131.25016
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement, plus the London hallmark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made and assayed in 1966.
CONDITION
During the 1960’s, Omega were quite footloose and fancy free with model names. You had some models that were called Seamaster De Villes, and others like this one with no extra branding. There is no explanation that we know of so we will concentrate on this watch. You have applied numerals all round the dial, as well as the logo. As this was being fitted to a gold case these are likely to be gold too, especially as the case is marked OWC for Omega Watch Company – quite often the cases were made in England by DS&S or Dennison, but this is made by Omega themsleves. The dial looks very clean at first, but there is light patina and a dent near ten. The movement is the calibre 601, a 17 jewel hand winding item that is working well and a pleasure to use. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
