HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Accurist have been making watches since 1946, but in 1993 they became the first and only watch company to be involved with the Greenwich Observatory. This is the recognised point in the world where time is measured from, and Accurist also built an atomic clock to countdown to the millennium, accurate to 1/10,000,000th of a second. In 1995 they started producing Greenwich Commemorative watches, and this is one of the early models.
CONDITION
You will look for a long time to find a better example. We have the outer box, inner box and hangtag, and the case back sticker is in place still. The strap is stamped Accurist and looks to be the original, with very little wear. There is not a mark on the watch worth noting, and everything is working correctly. The main time and retrograde quickset date is all set via the crown, making life easy. There are three pushers set into the sides of the case that change the hour of the three separate time zone subdials at 9, 12 and 3 – their minute hands are syncronised to the main minute hand. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
