HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
There is no way, to the best of our knowledge, to accurately date these watches to a specific production date. However, we have a copy of International Wristwatch magazine from 1994 that features Dunhill as their focus brand for that edition. In that magazine the Londinium model features heavily, as as we have a spare copy of the magazine we will include it with the sale of the watch.
CONDITION
Most of the Londinium watches were sold on bracelets, and over time these bracelets either broke or the owners lost the extra links that they now needed so seeing one on a leather strap isn’t unusual. However, this one was delivered on the leather strap from new, as evidenced by the signed butterfly clasp and not a cheap pin buckle. The strap has had one screw replaced which doesn’t match, but it is not visible when the watch is worn and you can not feel the difference when wearing the watch. If we can find a correct screw to fit then we will do so. The sapphire crystal is unmarked, the case is good save for a scratch at the bottom of the case which might polish out – we prefer to leave watches original. The bezel is 18k gold. Full working order as you would expect, with quick set date via that signature 18k gold helix crown. Original selling price was between £585 and £795.
