The Dunhill Millennium was, much like most Dunhill products, designed for the gentleman who appreciates quality but doesn’t shout.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The first reference we have for the Millennium series of this design is from 1989, in the very first issue of Wristwatch International magazine. Photographed is the same central lug design for the bi metal bracelet and printed not applied roman numerals, albeit with a white dial. There were several different subtle designs over the years, but circa 1989 will not be far wrong (if it is wrong at all!).
CONDITION
The Millennium range were perfect for the 1980’s. Launched in 1982 they were slim and quartz, in a variety of materials and on the smaller side – exactly what the market wanted and they sold in good numbers. The golden dial is excellent, and the golden date wheel to match a nice detail – as is the helixed crown. The bracelet has been cleaned by hand, revealing the gold plated parts nicely. As the plated parts are set back from the main bracelet, they don’t touch anything to wear out and this smart design means the bracelet still looks great today. Inside the case is an ETA 955.412 movement that powered many good watches from Zenith, Gucci, TAG Heuer and more during this period. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
This watch will be supplied with a velvet service pouch, papers from Dunhill referring to service work in 2012 and 2014 and our Certificate of Authenticity.
