HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Dating Ricoh watches is very difficult, as little information exists. But the craze for Holograms was in the mid eighties, so we think a date circa 1985 is likely. If you know more then please contact us.
CONDITION
Let’s get straight to the dial. The hologram is in triangles, and bounces the light around as holograms do. This doesn’t always make it that easy a watch to read at a glance, but certainly does make it stand out and we have not seen another in the flesh anywhere before. The Ricoh logo does have some corrosion, but such is the dial you don’t notice this. The calendar date has a quick set feature by gently pulling the crown outwards, but the day has to be set manually. The day wheel is in Portuguese. The movement is working well. The case is solid stainless steel, and has a slight mark at 12 that could be polished out. The bracelet is not signed, but has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath and has a friction clasp with extra fold over clip. It is quite a chunky case, so you do know you are wearing this one.
