Micro rotor automatics are quite scarce and tend to be found in higher end brands, such as the Pole Router by Universal Geneve or the Calibre 11 chronograph used by Breitling, Heuer and others.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

These 22 jewel Ronda 2538 movements were made between 1981 and 1989, so with the lack of further evidence we have picked a mid point year of being made circa 1985.

CONDITION

Very good.  The dial is especially clean and the gold hands are very legible.  We also like the golden border around the date window.  Finding any mechanical watch from the 1980’s isn’t easy, as quartz was definitely king.  Maybe the micro rotor choice for the movement was to keep the size down – normally an automatic rotor sits behind the movement, adding depth.  With a micro rotor you have all the components side by side to make a nice slim watch.  The gold plated case is in great shape apart from a small dink near the crown, but the case back is marked QUARTZ – whether this was done at the factory or was swapped at a later date we can not tell, but the case back fits perfectly anyway.  The date can be semi quickset in the method as shown in this video.  The leather strap is new.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
