A rarely found Movado Museum Imperiale super slim sports watch that would have set trends. Model reference 87.A2.876C.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The Imperiale model was introduced in 1981, but this model has some differences to that one. Technically they look the same, but this uses a Movado product number system instead of a Zenith system, and the movement is stamped Movado and not Zenith. Movado and Zenith used to be part of the same group, but they split in 1984 – this appears to be an independent Movado (although technically and visually almost identical.)
CONDITION
Watches with integrated bracelets are all the fashion currently, and the cohesive design in watches like this helps explain why. That the Imperial was launched before the Omega Constellation, which has a similar bracelet (without the golden dots) shows that this was ahead of the game. Like a lot of 1980’s watches, it was important too to have a slim watch and this Imperiale is certainly that – at 5mm this qualifies as ultra slim. Inside the stainless steel case is a Movado branded ETA quartz movement that is working as it should. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The jet black dial is good, with the deeply dished ‘sun’ at twelve which is replicated down the centre of the bracelet. There are some light scratches to the glass, but not enough to warrant changing it. The bracelet has been shortened and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
