HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Longines didn’t use consecutive serial numbers in the 1970’s, but they do have the records of exactly when this would have been made or invoiced – they will share the information if you pay them. We know the movement in this watch wasn’t available until 1975, so the watch can not be older than this.
CONDITION
Case back stickers are always nice to see, even if they are a little brown around the edges, but they alone shouldn’t be a given the watch has been barely worn. However, the case on this Flagship model is crisp and as close to perfect as you would hope to find on a fifty year old watch. The movement is the Longines calibre 847.3, a seventeen jewel hand wound movement that is a pleasure to interact with via the signed crown. The dial has just a couple of age spots on it, but the black hands and applied black markers make this very legible. The only part that has been changed is the leather strap for a new one, and this could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and buckle.
