HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Given that the movement started production in 1975, we know the watch can not be older than this. Sadly, with no further relevant information we can not say with certainty if the watch was made after 1975, but it could not have been made before.
CONDITION
Universal Geneve watches are very popular currently, especially after the brand was bought by Breitling and will relaunch soon. Some of the men’s vintage models are worth thousands, like the Tri Compax or Polerouter, but ladies watches always fetch lower figures as there are fewer collectors. This watch has the Universal Geneve in house calibre 1-42, a seventeen jewel manual wind engine that is wound up daily by the signed crown. The dial and hands are good, and original, and the black hands are easy to read against the silver dial. But the main selling point is the integrated bracelet. It is full length, and will fit almost every wrist without any tools needed to adjust it. The bracelet is made by FBG – not Faberge, but bracelet specialist Fritz Baumgartner. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.
