A very original watch with a coined edge case and potentially stone dial, it is unlikely we will see this Favre-Leuba model in this condition ever again.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
With no serial number information available we have to be quite certain here that we are not in an ideal place to say exactly when this was made. The movement design was launched in 1965, so it must post date that, and the styling looks to be early seventies. If anyone knows of a better way to date Favre-Leuba watches then please do contact us.
CONDITION
Stone dials are rare, as the natural material is difficult to work with. Normally the preserve of top tier brands like Piaget and Vacheron Constantin, we have recently found a few watches with what we think are stone dials. A stone dial in a Rolex multiples the price of that watch, but we are looking at Favre-Leuba, not Rolex, so the premium is far more modest. The back of this dial is black like the front, the dial is flat and much thicker than a stamped aluminum dial – all signs that this is a stone dial. It is a glossy black, like Onyx, and the gold hands look great against it. Inside is one of our favourite manual wind movements, the Peseux 7001 – incredibly still in production today as the ETA 7001 as it just does everything well. The leather strap is a well used but the original Favre-Leuba stamped one. We could fit a new strap instead, and that could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred, and include the original strap in the parcel. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, buckle and strap.
This watch will be supplied with our branded and reusable zipped travel case and cleaning cloth, and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
