This ladies Nivada, reference 4865, has an integrated gold plated bracelet fitted to the UFO style case and is very easy to read.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The movement on this watch was produced between 1966 and 1980, but this is an earlier one with a setting lever screw so we know that this watch was towards the beginning of this long production run. The Nivada logo did also change during the seventies, although we are not sure when, so we have estimated this watch was made circa 1969. That fits the styling too.
CONDITION
The 17 jewel FHF 69-21 movement is running very nicely at 21,600bph, but the immediate attraction to this watch is the dial and case combination. The integrated bracelet does have a few kinks that can be seen if the watch is laid flat, but are not as noticeable on the wrist. The UFO style case, with flush fitting crown, has a nice bezel ring that picks out the colour of the dial. The flush crown does make this a little fiddly to wind, but easily possible for most people. The white hands on brown bezel is very legible, and the attention to detail of the white part of the hour markers all angled to match the hands is good. The bracelet is a good long length and doesn’t require any tools to adjust.
