This Zodiac Kingline has the high beat, chronometer rated automatic movement and is one of the earlier watches. Model reference 694.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The Zodiac Kingline 36,000 Chronometer was launched in 1967, and soon after the name changed to Zodiac Kingline SST 36,000. This watch is likely from 1967 or very shortly after. We have found an advert for this watch which is dated to 1967 too.
CONDITION
A chronometer is a very fine timepiece, and when it is officially certified like this one states on the dial then it must meet quite severe timing restriction at various angles and temperatures. Sadly we don’t have the original certificate, but the movement in this watch does have a serial number (a requirement for any chronometer testing and not standard). To help achieve this the movement was fitted with extra fine screw adjustment on the regulator. It is all running well, but is a little tight to manually wind, and the hacking feature still works perfectly. The date is semi quick set. The stainless steel case is all good, and the crown is signed with the Zodiac crosshair logo. The dial is all original but does have even patina across it. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.
