This post war Ebel has all the signs of quality that earned the company its good reputation.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Ebel were founded in 1911, but The movement in this watch is based on a Aurore-Villeret calibre available in 1947. In 1950 Ebel launched the ‘Kissing E’ logo (the company founders were husband and wife), and this logo does not feature on this watch at all. So it is likely this watch was made between 1947 and 1950.
CONDITION
The manual wind movement is branded an Ebel 99, which had some upgrades over the base Aurore-Villeret 232 calibre. It is all working well, and still has the metal dust cover fitted (a sign of quality and a part that is often missing). The dial has light patina, but the lume plots and the hands are all in tact. This is a small watch by today’s standards, but was normal for the time (The Rolex Air King was so called because at 34mm it was king sized at the time!) The cas eis all stainless steel, and has a screw down case back. The acrylic glass is new. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
