HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the warranty card we can accurately date this watch to being sold in June 2020. It is still under Longines warranty.
CONDITION
The current list price for this model is £2,320 at time of press, so here is a chance to save money. This watch has been worn, so has a few little marks – the most serious being some scratches on the top lugs, but that is the compromise for the price. A Big Eye is not a technical complication, it is purely a longer hand and bigger counter to allow easier reading of that dial. This watch has the L688 column wheel chronograph movement fitted, unique to Longines. Column wheel chronographs are generally seen as better quality then cam pusher chrono’s, and while the difference is small you can feel the quality when you press the start and stop pushers. The leather strap is the original with light wear. The box is enormous, and contains the very thick instruction book as well as a sealed book about Longines. When this was was launched it got great reviews, such at this one from Hodinkee, and also won the prize for best revival watch at the 2017 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.
