HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the warranty card, which has the same serial number as engraved on the case back, we can accurately date this watch to being sold in 2008. This model first appeared in the TAG Heuer brochures in 2005, with a price of £995.
CONDITION
The Aquaracer name first appeared in 2004, in what was basically a replacement to the 2000 Series watches. Specifaction is higher on the Aquaracer than some 200 models though – the bracelet is solid link, not folded, and the Aquaracer had increased water resistance too, which when new was 300M. You also notice the bigger case size over the 2000, which many would agree was needed. Having just celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Aquaracer, you can still but a new quartz chronograph new – albeit just a 30 minute chronogrpah and not the 12 hour one we have fitted to this watch – for £2,350.
This watch has three sub dials – 1/10th of a second at 2, constant time seconds at 6 and 12 hour subdial at 10. Chronograph seconds are on the centre using a silver hand, and the red hand counts the chronograph minutes. In all you have seven hands on this watch, but it is still easy to read. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner, and the video shows the functions all working correctly. The case has a few marks, as does the bracelet, as it has not been polished. You do have the divers fliplock extension still in place to go over a dive suit. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The dial is excellent and the hands are clean, and the bezel turns smoothly and accurately.
This watch will be supplied with the inner and outer original presentation boxes, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity. The cushion for the case is missing from the box, and the boxes show minor wear.
