From the short time two of the leading jewellers of London merged, this Asprey & Garrard Oceana model is scarce and would not have been cheap.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the inscription on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being engraved in June 2000. Garrard and Asprey merged in 1992, and then split again in 2002.
CONDITION
Both Asprey and Garrard are very high end jewellers, each with histories dating back to the 18th century. Garrard had bought JW Benson watch brand too, and once the companies merged they tried to break the watch market but without the marketing investment that was never going to be successful. This Oceana model was one of their more popular ranges, and it was commissioned to Cyma to make the watch to Garrard & Asprey specifications. That included an ETA Quartz movement, the same one used by many brands including TAG Heuer. Everything works as it should, and we will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bezel shows no wear to the gold, and given the brand prestige could well be solid gold. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
Asprey still make watches today, and they start at £25,200.
