And now for something completely different from TAG Heuer, the LCD Microsplit stopwatch with full set. Model reference 2083.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied delivery note paperwork, we can show that this watch was delivered in March 1991.
CONDITION
We don’t do many stopwatches, but when something is as complete as this from one of the companies you most associate with stopwatches then it was a no brainer. Any romantic ideas that this was used at Le Mans or for the F1 in Monaco can be dismissed though – this was delivered to Pedigree Petfoods, so was more likely used for time and motion studies to drive efficiencies than lap times. Unusually the Microsplit divides minutes into 1/1000th’s, rather than sends and then tenths of seconds, as shown in the video. We think it was used by someone called Pouch, as that name is very lightly on the back. They can’t have used it much, as the stop watch shows no real signs of wear and tear though. The stop watch has the original cord, with the emblem stamped for Heuer only (TAG joined Heuer in 1983, but some parts were still just branded for Heuer as they used the remaining stock up.) We will fit a new battery before it is sent out, but this has to be one of the cheaper ways to get a fun TAG Heuer into your collection.
