This slim, discreet 1991 dress watch was always what Omega intended the De Ville Ile de France range to be. Model reference 196.0312_1.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1991. The case back is also engraved in Japanese for 25 years service at Toshiba Engineering for 1st August 1991. The Ile de France model ran from 1986 to 1992.
CONDITION
The latest Omega Observatory watch has no date and just two hands, yet that £9,100 watch is well over twice as thick as this De Ville model is. In fact, this is just outside the classification as an ultra thin watch by 0.1mm. The case here is 20m gold plated, and it is all in good order. The movement is ETA’s 255 series quartz, which is all working well, and Omega call their 1430 (Omega and ETA are both owned by the same parent company, so Omega used ETA movements quite widely). We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The dial is clean, and it is nice to see a colour matched date wheel used. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case and crown.
