HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1985. These watches were assembled by Shiojiri watch factory, a subsidiary of Seiko, and it was the parent company who made the earlier Playboy watches. The Shiojiri factry now assembles the Grand Seiko and Credor high end lines – you can read about this here.
CONDITION
Earlier Playboy watches, such as this one we had, were made by Seiko themselves and commanded a bit of a premium over their standard watches. But as Quartz watches became more common and cheaper to make, the watches became more affordable too. This Playboy model is classic mid eighties in design – slim, bi metal and quartz powered. The dark grey dial is very nice, and you have quick set date too down at six. All is working well, and we will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is full length and the sliding clasp needs no special tools to adjust. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
