HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1977.
CONDITION
The Megaquartz made a point of telling the customer that this watch runs at 32kHz. This is the norm for almost all quartz watches today, but when this watch launched the earlier quartz watches ran at 8kHz. To almost everyone, this doesn’t matter, but this is why this watch makes the point of 32kHz. We have to remember that quartz was still quite new o the market, having been launched just 8 years before. The movement is Omega’s calibre 1315, an in house design which has eight jewels and a number of extra features. The hour hand can be set independently, which is also how you advance the day and date. If you just need to adjust the date, there is a pusher at 4 for that. If you want to advance or hack the seconds, press the pusher at 2 for that. Everything is working well, and we will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The case is quite chunky, and does show some signs of wear to the gold plating but on the whole it presents well, especially in natural light outside of our studio. The bracelet also does show some wear, mainly on the back part of the wrist, which is harder for the wearer to see. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The dial is good, and the crystal is the original signed item. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown, crystal and clasp.
