The ambassador line was along running range of premium Bulova watches. Model reference 7312-1.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this to being made in 1972. But the same type of production serial number on the movement shows the movement was made in 1973. The watch could not have been completed until 1973.
CONDITION
The first Ambassador watches we can find that Bulova made were back in 1926, and they have had quite a variety of designs over that last century. This one is typical of the early 1970s – particularly the C shape case. These were named after the Omega Constellation that Gerald Genta designed, with the side of the case flowing into the strong lugs (he also copied his own homework and used this design on the Universal Geneve Shadow series!). Behind the screw down case back you find the Bulova 11ANAD 23 jewel automatic movement, which is working nicely and can be hand wound too. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.
