HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1972.
CONDITION
The Lobster bracelet is not quite accurate – around the same time Omega had a style of bracelet that is known as the lobster and it resembles the tail of a lobster well. But the long fixed pieces near the case remind people of the Omega bracelet, so these get called Lobster too. The hamburger dial is much more accurate – the light blue sections looking like hamburger buns. The dial is good condition and is also an interesting thing to look at repeatedly – the light patina on the darker sections actually make the dial better. The automatic movement is Tissot’s 2481, which was co developed with Omega (their version is called 1481). The unusual thing with this movement is the push crown quick set date, which wasn’t the greatest design. Often they do not work, but this one does as shown in the video. The case back is naively engraved for J.P RYAN CANMAN. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. It is also far more comfortable than you might imagine.
