A really nice early example of the f300 Seamaster – you may never see a better one! Model reference 198.001
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1970, making this model one of the very first f300 made (hence model 198.001).
CONDITION
It is rare that we will make too bold a statement about the condition of a watch – this is over 50 years old and that shouldn’t be forgotten. But if we told you this watch was one year old you might believe us, such is the condition. The case has the smallest marks, and the original brushed side finishing is practically perfect. The dial is faultless, as are the hands. This f300 has the Omega 1250 movement, which itself is a rebranded ESA 9162 and that is no bad thing at all – they were designated chronometers when new. That is all working well, operated via the signed crown. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is Omega’s 1098 with 540 end links, and we have seen these fitted to other f300 198.001 models so we think it is original.
