HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number hallmark on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1969.
CONDITION
Piaget are one of the very finest, high end luxury brands, and as if to prove this the closest watch they currently offer to match this one we have is the Altiplano Origin, which comes in at £17,500. And that is one of their cheaper watches! Piaget are also known for very high end jewellery, but their watchmaking and horological history shouldn’t be overlooked. The movement in this watch was not only in house and unique to Piaget, but it was also the thinnest automatic movement available. It is calibre 12PC1, a thirty jewel microrotor which is beautifully finished. The issue with microrotors not having enough weight to spin enough to wind the movement was overcome by using a very dense metal – 24k gold. Corners were not cut when designing this watch! The dial is original and clean, and th ehands are straight. The glass has a few very minor marks. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.
