A superb example of a Seiko Skyliner, which doesn’t look as old as it is. Model reference J15019.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1963. The Skyliner series was first introduced in 1961, and this calendar model added later. There is a very useful blog on the Skyliner series you can read here, which includes this exact model.
CONDITION
The case is gold plated on the top two sections, and the back is gold filled – that is a higher wear component where it touches the skin so the thicker gold fill means the case back still looks great all these years later. Inside you find Seiko’s 956 21 jewel manual wind movement, signed Seikosha as is correct for these earlier watches. The dial and hands are fabulous, and the large for the time 36mm case will suit man modern watch wearers. The dial has a slight smudge near twelve, which is more noticeable on the photos than in real life. The crown is the original part, signed with an S. On manual winding watches these are rare to find, as the part takes a lot of wear if the watch has been worn daily. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
