HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1962. This reference was often sold as the De Ville Seamaster too, and model 14770SC was launched in 1960 according to Omega’s own website.
CONDITION
This Seamaster has a unibloc case. For those that don’t know, that means the movement is accessed via the crystal and not via the case back, which is a good way of keeping the movement clean. The calibre 562 movement has just had a full strip down service, and we have included a picture of this to show what was done. These 24 jewel movements are very good and have pull to set quick set date, and swan neck fine adjustment on the regulator. The tension ring acrylic glass was also replaced at this service. The case is rose gold capped around the bezel and across the top of the lugs, over stainless steel. The crown is an original Omega signed one, but looks to be in yellow gold plating rather than rose gold. The dial does have some marks and patina, but is also nicely lined. The minutes hand does have some distortions, where it looks to have been straightened in the past. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
