A classy 1960’s Longines 9k gold watch, on a more modern Longines strap and buckle. Model reference 13322.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1962, which matches the hallmark date showing it was assayed in Birmingham in 1962. However the engraving states the watch was given in 1964. Either date is valid for a birth year watch.
CONDITION
A while ago 1950’s and 1960’s Longines were massively undervalued, but the market has caught up. This watch is easy to see why, and at this price they still represent great value for a Longines 9k gold watch. That case was made by Denisson, who also used to make cases for Rolex and others. The quality still shines through the surface scratches (these could be polished out, but we don’t do that as some customers like the original patina on their vintage watches). Inside the case lies a 17 jewel Longines 30L handwinding movement, running nicely and a treat to look at. The dial is cream and does have even patina right across it, but at least that shows it is all original. The strap and buckle are both Longines items but much later – still nice to have, and we have turned the buckle tang around as it is fitted incorrectly in the photos. The case back is engraved as this watch was reward for 40 years loyalty – somebody waited for 40 years to get this watch, and you can buy it now.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
