Rotary made some very nice watches in the 1950’s and you can see some in their online museum.  This is a nicer example than many in there.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the supplied paperwork, which matches the serial number on the case back, we can accurately date this watch to being sold in 1959.

CONDITION

The big advantage of buying a watch with box and papers, apart form the ease of dating them, is that they are often in the best condition.  This is a great example of that.  The plating on the case is hardly worn at all, and the dial is good with just light patina.  as the crown isn’t worn, and you would expect that for a gold plated crown, we suspect the watch hasn’t been worn much at all.  The strap it came to us on may have been original, but it was no longer safe to use so we have replaced it with a new leather strap.  The movement has the rotary wings stamped on the barrel gear, but is actually the very nice Peseux 320.  This movement is just 3.1mm thick, allowing or a very slim watch.

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
