HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1957. The Seamaster De Luxe range was introduced in 1954, according to Omega’s own website.
CONDITION
While there is a lot to like about this Omega Seamaster, the dial will be a deal breaker for some. There is staining that will put some people off, but a repainted dial would likely put off more people, so we are selling it as is. No two patina dials are the same, so if you like the patina of age then you will like this! Inside the gold capped case is a full rotor Omega automatic movement, calibre 471, with fine adjustment on the regulator. The signed crown has lost some of its shine but is original. The case does have marks, but thanks to this being the de Luxe model the case is gold capped rather than plated – gold capping is far thicker, so doesn’t show the same wear as gold plated watches would. The hands are original and have marks, just like the dial. The modern Speidel expanding bracelet looks the part, and is in very good condition. It could be swapped for a leather strap if you prefer. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.
