With the original solid gold buckle, this 1949 men’s Omega should please any collector. Model reference 13322.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can date this movement to being made between 1947 and 1949, but the hallmark on the inside of the case back shows this was assayed in 1949.
CONDITION
It is always a shame that movements like the calibre 265 in this watch are not visible – there are many modern watches with exhibition case backs that have poorly finished movements that probably shouldn’t be seen! The 15 jewel movement has a copper finish and is a treat to wind and set. The case is made by Dennison and this was to save the end user overpaying – completed gold watches had a very high tax bracket, but Omega and many other companies would import movements and dials and have the final casing done in England, thus legally avoiding the duty. The case back doesn’t look to have ever been engraved. The buckle is also 9k gold , stamped 375 and MWF. The leather strap is new and also singed Omega. The dial does have some patina – this is an old watch that was never water resistant so this should be expected. Most collectors prefer an original dial like this to a repainted one.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
