From the iconic New York Jeweller Tiffany, this Portfolio watch is naturally elegant.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We have good book on Tiffany watches, but it concentrates on the watches that Tiffany retailed and has their name on the dial but was made by Patek Philippe, Rolex, Breguet and many others. But the Portfolio is not mentioned. We have however found an identical watch to ours with an inscription on the case back for 2007, so that helps enormously.
CONDITION
Tiffany first opened their doors in 1837, and the first day sales totals $4.98. Luckily things picked up, and now they one of the biggest jewellery brands in the World. They have a long history of selling watches too, and their own range is available from their 5th Avenue store (or online) ranging from £1,975 to over £30,000. This would have been at the cheaper end of their offerings, but it is still nicely put together. The unisex sized case is stainless steel, but with a gold bezel. This is probably solid 14k or 18k gold, but we can not say for sure, but if were gold plated there is zero wear to it. The glass is perfect. The case back has an engraved logo to it, but we have not been able to identify whom this is for. The movement is an ETA quartz, so reliable and easy to use. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
