HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Unfortunately we do not have the paperwork for this watch. However, we have found the same model in the 2005 Wrist Watch Annual with a price of $8,950. For comparison, the same book quotes a list price of $4,250 for a Rolex GMT Master II in steel, and a steel Audemars Piguet Royal Oak was $8,900. So if you were wondering why you have not seen this Chronoswiss Delphis before, it was a very expensive watch!
CONDITION
There are many things that strongly appeal about this watch. The first is the technical achievement The calibre 124 movement has automatic winding, a jump hour window at 12 and retrograde minutes moving across the top of the dial. It is a very easy way of telling the time once you get used to it. In the bottom half of the dial you have sub seconds. And the dial itself really does show off some excellent guilloche patterning across the dial – a comparison with Breguet or even Roger Smith (particularly with the cross hatched sub seconds) is fair. The case has the model number engraved between the bottom lugs, and the serial number between the lugs at the top. You also have coin rimmed top and bottom bezels in 18k rose gold. On the rear you have an exhibition case back revealing how nicely the movement is finished. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
