The Crosswind Special not only had the chronograph, but also has the large date windows. Model reference A44355.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Sadly we do not have the paperwork for this watch, but they were only available from 2000 to 2004 so we have picked a mid point year.
CONDITION
The Crosswind Special was available with a leather strap, pilot bracelet, and even in 18k gold (at a not insignificant £19,505!). It was also available with a quartz movement, but that does not have the big date display so is easy to spot. Our watch here is the automatic movement, calibre B44, which is based on the ETA movement just with an extra module for the large date display. These were all chronometer rated, as were all of Breitling’s movements at this time, and this is confirmed by a period article in International Wristwatch Magazine – our watch is pictured on the article as a backdrop. This is keeping excellent time as expected and all functions are working correctly. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. It has the original buckle with it still. The dial is very clean, and the lume still bright. Breitling do some of the best anti reflective coating on the sapphire crystals that we have experienced, and the crystal is scratch free.
This watch will be supplied with the original inner and outer presentation boxes, inner travel case (which is tatty) and our Certificate of Authenticity.
