HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The original Longines Conquest was launched in 1954, but in 1984 this style of watch with integrated bracelet was introduced in quartz movement only. In 1999, Longines made the watch available with the newly launched L619.2 movement, complete with exhibition case back to show off the golden rotor. This watch may be newer, but can not be older than 1999. The model was discontinued around 2006.
CONDITION
The automatic movement used in this Conquest is a rebranded ETA 2892A2, which is no bad thing at all. You get a high beat of 28.8kbph for a smooth sweep seconds hand, hacking and quick set date but at the same time the movement is very thin. Often you will find this movement with a chronograph module bolted on the back, to take advantage of the base movement’s skinny proportions. All is working well. The case and bracelet are gold plated. and these will show some wear on the high points of the bracelet in particularly. But the bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required – many of these integrated bracelet design Conquest’s tend to have small bracelets so this is a real advantage. The cream dial does tone down the gold case and bracelet combo. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and clasp.
