HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The Solotempo range was launched in 1997 and we have a magazine article from 1999 confirming that the range was now available with a bracelet, like this one has. We don’t know when the range stopped being available new, but we think this was made circa 1999.
CONDITION
This watch was priced at $1,350 when new in 1999, so it was never a cheap watch. The design is a development of the Bvlgari Bvlgari designed by Gerald Genta, but one important upgrade is the case is now made from steel rather than aluminium. Aluminium is light, but soft, so you have to be very careful with any aluminium cased watch whereas stainless steel is hardier. The 7 jewel MVE001 quartz movement is covered by a nicely decorated plate, like Breitling do on their quartz watches, with easy access to change the battery as needed. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. It also has quick set date to make life easier. The dial is very good, and the white hands against the black dial makes this combination very easy to read. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. Both bracelet and case are unpolished, so will show light wear marks.
