Montblanc are of course best known for their high end pens, but this Meisterstück desk clock adds to their collection.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Montblanc launched their first Meisterstück watch collection in 1997, and the styling is very similar to this clock. Our watch based library doesn’t have any reference to the clocks, but it makes sense that this would have been made around the same time.
CONDITION
This looks completely unused. The leather style case us unmarked and has the Montblanc logo button on the top – the logo is supposed to represent the snow covered peak of Mont Blanc, and has been in use for over 100 years. The gold plated case still has a protective sticker on it, which does not appear to have ever been removed. The crown has the logo again, and there is a separate crown at 2 to set the alarm. The alarm works by turning this upper crown and seeing the disc on the centre of the dial, much like a Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox, and then pulling the crown out to switch the alarm on. This is a quartz movement so it is a beep rather than a mechanical ring, but it is working well. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
