HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
While we don’t have the box and papers for this example, we have found one for sale elsewhere that has a receipt for £230 dating to 1994, and we have no reason to suspect our watch wouldn’t be similar.
CONDITION
Ellesse watches were huge in the 90’s, competing with Gucci and lower end TAG Heuer models with a sporty yet dressy feel. This example is typical of the time – all stainless steel case, gold plated in places, and water resistant to 100M. The diver look is complimented by a bezel, but this is fixed and not the turnable bezel a diver might need. The lume on the dial and hands is still reasonably good, and the dial is clean. The crystal has a few very minor scratches. The date has quickset, and the Swiss Ronda 5 jewel quartz movement is all working well. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
